The Sense of Belonging of Employees
The sense of belongings of employees refers to when the employees feel the identity, fairness, security, value to the company on their ideological, psychological and emotional sense. These feelings are finally internalized into the sense of belonging of employees.
The formation of a sence of belonging is a very complex process, but once it is formed, it will make the employees have inner self-restraint and a strong sense of responsibility.
Employees’ sense of belonging is characterized by multiple thinking and levels. The formation is a gradual and interactive process, which can be divided into three levels.
1.The employees have general understanding of the enterprise through various information channels. When the material benefits, such as salary, welfare and the ideologies of various cultures basically meet the individual value standards, the employees will join the enterprise without any consideration.
2.After working for a period of time, the employees begin to have a comprehensive cognition and familiarity with then company, and will have a basic sense of identity of the enterprise.
3. As the company continuously satisfies the employee’s physical, psychological, emotional and interpersonal needs in material and spiritual aspects, the employees would has a deep sense of identification with the thinking mode and the core values of the company.
After the formation of the sense of belonging, on the one hand, employees will deepen their identification with the company, on the other hand, employee will produce a strong sense of responsibility for the company.
Therefore, the cultivation of a sense of belonging is a long-term, complex and dynamic process.
