11th, Dec, 2014, the 8th AIAG Auto Parts Leadership and Suppliers Forum took place in Shanghai, Hilton Double Tree Hotel. As a critical part of auto mechanika exhibition, the AIAG forum was themed of “To Meet a Global Purchasing Need in China” and addressed by significant speakers from General Motors, Ford, FCA, Volvo, JLR, Delphi, Borsch, Lear, Magna, Borg Warner or other local auto OEMs. These purchasing VIPs key-note addressed their purchasing strategies, needs and quality expectations in the Asian Pacific region and also looked forward to the future and trends of the industry. 3-Party testing institution (TUV Rheinland) was also included in the forum to help to understand the updates of quality standard and expectations on CSR.
Mr. Philip Huang, president of Bluestar Moulding Group and Ms Angela Wang, overseas sales director of BSM were honorably invited to this event and discussed around the quality alignment from sub-tier suppliers and the maintenance of a stable production and delivery in the cases of surging orders.
The forum is typically about 1) the purchasing strategies and needs from auto OEMs 2) expectations on suppliers of all sizes 3) transparency and constancy in the supply chain 4) meet a global purchasing need in China.
APA President, VP of AIAG, Dr Steven Shay spoke to address the necessity of “Raising the Bar”, which means “to meet and exceed customer’s expectations”. He mentioned that the expectations of auto OEMs to their Tier 1 suppliers is going to be consistently implemented and controlled down to their sub-tier suppliers, which means sub-tier supplier will be needing to stick to the same quality standard as first-tier supplier requested by the OEMs.
